Dark Orbit is an exciting game released on December 2006 by a German company. It’s a shooter type, browser based game (no downloads in traditional sense).

When you first start you can join one of the three factions that are at war – Venus, Earth, Mars. It is possible to change sides too.

You can buy ships, engines, fly around, shoot aliens, move from map to map by jumping portals. There are 3×8 maps that are all connected with portals, 8 maps for each faction. Basically it’s a fun way to waste your time. Some say it’s the closest to a currently available massive multiplayer Star Trek game.
